Some of these rescues have over 100 rabbits to re-home, so please spare a thought for those already in rescues before going to the pet shop.

Rescues ensure that rabbits are vaccinated against Myxomatosis as well as VHD and are neutered before being re-homed, this can cost in excess £80 for each rabbit, when you buy one from a pet shop it costs £20 - £30 but you still have to pay for neuters and vaccinations (approx £60 per neuter and £20 per vaccination – depending which part of the country you live in). A rescue asks for an adoption fee (this will vary from rescue to rescue, so please contact them direct for fees).

Rabbits like to live in pairs – a lot of rescues will help with bonding, so if you already have a single bunny, a rescue could be able to help you find a partner for it.
