dog crate conversion UD c & c grids
i want to expand the living accommodation for my piggies indoors. i have a 4ft dog crate i could use - but how??? (i have 3 piggies - a pair and a single but atm they are all separate due to illness and being in need of a rest from a randy edgar honeypig).

i've wrestled the crate indoors - very heavy! - and it looks rather like a prison cell i'll have to get rid of 2 table to fit it in but it really does look 'orrible!!!
i'm thinking c & c cubes would look better - use the crate base tho - but does anyone use them? how sturdy are they to add a second level to?

Re: dog crate conversion
There's some good ideas for guinea pigs here http://pinterest.com/emmathea/piggies/ not keen on some of the rabbit set ups
Re: dog crate conversion
some brilliant ideas on there - far less bleurgh than a massive dog crate!! thanks sue
i never look at bunny set ups cos mine are free range - wish the piggies could be too but they're so messy!

Re: dog crate conversion
back to the drawing board. crate looks orrible and i'll end up wasting money on badly cut wood so i'm going down the c & c cage route (best not tell my dad what i'm using my christmas money on as i'll get grief!! - but its not for the bunnies this time ).
thought about using the dog crate base but now i'm getting ideas........
what about a plastic garden table top turned upside down as a base? then i could cut the legs shorter and fasten the corner grids to there and it should be sturdier....
or have i gone completely insane??
(and the problem is i don't actually have a plastic table. hmmmm. too much procrastination. again)

Re: dog crate conversion UD c & c grids
the c & c grids have arrived today
my intention was to set them up 4 grids x 3 grids but i've just done 4 x 2 and it looks pretty big!! (dufus me didn't realise they were 14" each not 12").
the oilcloth that i bought for the base just about fits so do you think this is enough room for ed & ellie - 56" x 28"? there will be a hay loft area with a ramp too and i'm thinking that once OH has got used to the look of it, he won't notice when i make it bigger
