Updates 2019 Baby Blue Bee Bunnies

Post by BabyBlueBeeBunnies »

Hi everyone :)

Firstly thank you to Pledge a Pound for all they have done for supporting us as a rescue and all the work is so appreciated.

We take on a lot of work as there are only 2 rabbit rescues in the whole of Scotland with an average of 30 surrender enquiries per week. Our team works very hard helping as many as we can although our current capacity is only around 30 rabbits. We ensure every single rabbit gets the very best of treatment, a home from home while with us and they go to the best forever homes.

We have the rescue itself and then our network of foster carers across Scotland. We also offer a sanctuary or retirement home to any old or special need buns within our resident group who live a happy hoppy life here at the rescue.

We have many plans for this year as we have not long moved to a new site and have many projects on the go. If all goes well we are going to be able to nearly double our capacity to 50+ rabbits (and be the first in the UK to do what we are planning) funds permitting. It's not quite the retirement I had planned over 3 years ago.... :'D

This month has already been crazy after Xmas with surrender enquiries, on Monday alone we had 14 calls!!

We are already into a busy year here with taking in 8 rabbits in January and our vet bills are already at £2000 for the month with dentals and ear problems (pesky squished faces and lop earred buns!!). We have had 10 adoptions and set up 2 new foster carers.

And we sadly had to say goodbye to a little rescue bun who was in a real mess from a recent horrendous rescue mission (little Blizzard who won last months comp) as he had cancer and many other serious issues and he was slowly dying. The vet specialists said he only had days to go so we had to send him over the rainbow bridge, we were all broken hearted.

So sorry to hear that Blizzard didn't make it :( I read his dreadful story of neglect on here in Rescue Rabbit of the Month, but glad he had a little while of being cared for and loved by you.
Good luck with your future expansion plans. :)
